Step 1: Work Authorization (Employer Action): The Lithuanian employer registers the job vacancy at the Employment Service (Užimtumo tarnyba) to obtain a Work Permit (Leidimas dirbti) or a Decision on Compliance with Labor Market Needs (Sprendimas dėl atitikties).
Step 2: Digital Application via MIGRIS: The applicant creates an account on the official Lithuanian Migration Portal (MIGRIS) and fills out the application for a National Visa (Type D) or a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP).

Note for Bangladeshi Applicants (Lithuania Work Visa Filing)
No VFS Submission in Dhaka: Bangladeshi citizens cannot submit their biometrics or physical visa application files within Bangladesh, as Lithuania does not maintain a VFS visa application center or diplomatic mission in Dhaka.
Mandatory Travel to New Delhi, India or Malaysia:
Online Application: Fill out the initial visa/TRP application digitally via the official MIGRIS portal.
In-Person Submission: Book an appointment and travel to the VFS Global Lithuania Application Centre in New Delhi or Malaysia (or directly to the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in New Delhi, India or Malaysia) to submit your physical documents, original passport, and biometric data.
Indian Transit/Entry Visa: Applicants must obtain a valid Indian/Malaysia visa prior to traveling to New Delhi/Kuala Lumpur for their submission appointment.
Document Legalization: All official Bangladeshi documents (Police Clearance, educational certificates) must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Bangladesh before your appointment in India.
Valid Passport: Minimum validity of 1 year with at least 2 blank pages.
MIGRIS Application Form: Completed and submitted online National Visa (Type D) application form printed with the MIGRIS reference number.
Biometric Photo: 1 recent passport-format photo (35mm × 45mm, plain white background, 80% face coverage).
Work Authorization Documents:
Approved Work Permit or Employment Service Decision issued by Užimtumo tarnyba.
Signed Employment Contract detailing job position, wages, and working hours.
Official Mediation Letter number (Tarpininkavimo raštas) issued by the employer via the MIGRIS system.
Proof of Accommodation: Formal lease agreement, property registration, or an official Employer Accommodation Guarantee.
Educational & Experience Records: Attested academic certificates, trade diplomas, and work experience letters (translated into English/Lithuanian).
Proof of Means of Subsistence: Bank statement or employer wage statement proving sufficient funds to cover monthly living expenses.
Travel Medical Insurance: Valid insurance policy covering emergency medical treatments for the duration of the visa with a minimum coverage of €30,000.
Police Clearance Certificate (PCC): PCC issued within the last 6 months, translated into English/Lithuanian and officially legalized/Apostilled.
1. Temporary Residence Permit (TRC / Residence Permit)
Direct TRC Application via MIGRIS: Foreign workers can apply directly for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRC) through the MIGRIS system before traveling, or transition to a TRC upon entering Lithuania on a Type D visa.
Address Registration: Upon entry into Lithuania, the worker must register their residential address with the local municipality (Seniūnija) within 1 month.
Validity: A TRC is issued for 1 to 2 years (up to 3 years for high-skilled workers / EU Blue Card) and is renewable annually.
2. Permanent Residence (PR / Permanent Residence Permit)
Standard Eligibility: Foreign nationals can apply for a Permanent Residence Permit (Lietuvos Respublikos ilgalaikio gyventojo leidimas gyventi) after lawfully residing in Lithuania continuously for 5 years with a TRC.
Requirements: Continuous employment, proof of stable income, clean legal record, and passing the official Lithuanian State Language (Category I) and Basic Constitution Exam.
